Whatcom Street Medicine
The team works outside of traditional healthcare setting, meeting individuals where they are, whether that be on the street, in the alleys, or in a homeless camp. Through building genuine relationships, trust and rapport with clients, the Whatcom Street Medicine team connects vulnerable people with healthcare services.
Whatcom Street Medicine team makes rounds twice a week in the afternoon. Each team is partnered with a homeless outreach professional from the Opportunity Council's Homeless Outreach Team (HOT), Bridge 2 Services, or Road2Home to act as a guide to the team and to connect individuals with community resources and social services.
We have helped more than 400 individual homeless persons in more than 275 medical encounters during the past 17 months.
